Halloween Carnival

Yesterday we attended a Halloween carnival at Kate's Park, one of the parks where we like to play. There were tons of games, a pumpkin carving contest (ours got there too late or it so would have won!), a costume contest, and a train. The admission charge was a donation of non-perishable food. We had a GREAT time! It was a little chilly, but the boys didn't seem to mind.

A Prayer for Peace

I don't have a lot to update with the boys. Michael continues to want to learn more letters . . . he is up to M, N, O, H, A, and C. He is currently working with P, B, and D, he's not great with those yet. Cayden is just needy. He wants 100% of everyone's attention ALL of the time. He has also mastered an ear-piercing scream that he uses at random.

However, the thing weighing heaviest on my heart is a prayer. My friend Courtney is 35 weeks pregnant and is going in for amniocentisis on Wednesday, hoping to hear that baby's lungs are developed enough for her be induced that afternoon. She has a rare condition that makes her VERY itchy, uncomfortable, and can be very risky to the baby's health. She was quite blessed to be in the right place at the right time when she had an emergency with her first baby. Please pray for her. Please pray for her unborn baby. Please pray for her family. We love you Courtney . . . know that God is holding you tightly in His hands. If you want to visit Courtney's blog you may find it here: http://breedlovenotwar.blogspot.com/

The Good Through the Bad

Well this week has been a little rough. Cayden has been sick . . . sick enough for his temp to get to 103.2 on Thursday and 104.4 on Friday! Bryan took him to the doctor last night and they suspect he has pneumonia. I say "suspect" because they don't want to do chest x-rays when they are this little, they just treat it like it is pneumonia. He is now on an antibiotic, a cough med. with albuterol in it, and the newest is a steroid to open up his throat from his coughing so much. We are also alternating Motrin and Tylenol. We are really hoping that he will be able to go to daycare on Monday because we had to take Tuesday-Friday off last week. For those of you that know Cayden well, you know he is a happy child. I have to tell you through all of this, he has smiled at the doctors, waved and smiled at the pharmacists (who know us by name!!!!), and been in a generally okay mood. The only time he has been GRUMPY is when his fevers start rising. However, over the last few days he has taken one step twice, taken two steps once, and learned to clap. While not for good reasons, Bryan and I have enjoyed our time home with him.

Michael has not taken it too well that Cayden has been getting a lot of attention however. He has been a jealous bee! Last night though I took him to a birthday party. He was very polite, listened well, and was a good eater. I was very proud to claim him as my son. Today he and dad are off getting haircuts and buying a pumpkin for us to carve, which will be a first. Next weekend is Hey Day which should be a lot of fun!
